Spider-Man Remastered on Track to Become Sony’s Second Biggest Steam Launch

Marvel’s Spider-Man PC release looks to be on track to become Sony’s second biggest Steam launch, if concurrent player count is anything to go by. The game, which launched at $60 on the platform, peaked at 64,893 concurrent players over the weekend and we still have to get through Sunday. Spider-Man Remastered currently holds an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam based on 8,700 user reviews.

Spider-Man PC couldn’t quite beat God of War

Despite being one of the world’s most popular superheroes, Spidey couldn’t quite beat Kratos. As pointed out by Twitter user Benji Sales, God of War peaked at 73,529 concurrent players at launch. Spider-Man did, however, manage to beat Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, which peaked at 56,557 and 27,450 concurrent players at launch, respectively.

This is a pretty impressive feat considering Spider-Man originally launched nearly four years ago and is listed on Steam at full price. If Sony’s first-party PC launches are any indication, there’s a healthy appetite for PlayStation exclusives on PC where it’s usually unheard of for games to have full price tags attached to them years after they first release.

Despite this success, Sony has no plans to launch first-party games day-and-date on PC. At least not at this point in time. Who knows what the future holds. For now, PC players will soon be able to enjoy yet another hit PlayStation-exclusive when The Last of Us Part 1 launches on the platform.

In other news, a former Konami employee who was tasked with having P.T. delisted has finally spoken out, and God of War Ragnarok leaks have apparently started hitting the internet.
